45s and Christmas Rhymes

Peace world!

It's a season where folk tend to stop down and think a bit more about peace, but also a time when a lot of folk struggle with feelings of sadness. There's a saying that goes something like "Be kind, you never know what someone might be going through". Take that to heart yo!

This week on the radio show I'm planning on playing 7" vinyl during the first hour. It's cool to have local artists from Portland that have been able to release projects on vinyl. Looking forward to playing some of those for you this week.

In the second hour, I'm planning to spread a little holiday cheer. It's been a tradition on Welcome to the Neighborhood since my days at KZME to play Christmas joints around this time, so I'll play some classics like "Christmas in Hollis" but also some newer joints like something from the new Heaven Noise release from Wool See.

Since it's a time for giving, besides good music I'll be giving away another pair of tickets to see Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic and Homeboy Sandman with Darktime Sunshine. They're in Portland January 21st at the Hawthorne Theater. Listen in for the track "Holiday" from Homeboy Sandman as your cue to call in to 503-233-XRAY [9729] for your chance to win tickets.
