The Portland Street Art Alliance is proud to announce the launch of the Taylor Electric Project at Clay Creative, a collaborative, open-air street art gallery, on July 21st, from noon-10pm at 240 SE Clay St., Portland, OR, 97214. This opening will highlight the work of over 100 artists with an all-day event that will include live-paintings, artist commissions, live music, local pop-ups, food carts, local beer, skateboarding ramps, a breakdancing battle and more. The opening is all ages and comes with a suggested donation of only $5.
The ruins of the Taylor Electric Supply Company, located on 240 SE Clay St., became a Portland nexus of local, regional, and national graffiti and street art following a fire that left only the burnt-out husk of walls, a perfect canvas for street art within Portland’s ever-changing Central Eastside Industrial District. In 2015, what remained of the building was demolished but with the support of Killian Pacific, Portland Street Art Alliance will be collectively rebuilding the Taylor Electric Project into a haven for street art once again.
Founded in 2012 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Portland Street Art Alliance (PSAA) has managed over 40 commissioned and publicly funded projects across Portland. PSAA builds a community of street artists, documents the history of Portland street art, and advocates for artists through communicating with the city and stakeholders to develop more inclusive and equitable art programs. Their mission is to cultivate a more democratic culture of artistic expression, by activating public spaces and broadening perspectives to build a more engaged and diverse city.
